Verical Forest
Boeri Studio architects:

Aa a project created for the rehabilitation of the historic Milanese district of Isola, the Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) is composed of two towers of 111 m and 78 m high respectively (27 and 19 floors for a total of 113 residences), designed by Boeri Studio.

It is called Bosco Verticale because of its balconies that host 550 trees between 3 m and 9 m high in tower E and 350 trees in tower D, which are helping to absorb smog and pollution and to produce oxygen.

On 19th November 2014, the Bosco Vertical won the International Highrise Award, an international competition which takes place every two years and awards the most beautiful skyscraper in the world. This building has been chosen among 800 skyscrapers of the five continents.

Christoph Ingenhoven says: “The Bosco Verticale is a fantastic project! It is the symbol of the human need of being in contact with nature. Skyscrapers with trees are a strong example of a symbiosis between architecture and nature”.
